Andy and I, like the hopeless romantics that we are, swiped right on May 13, 2017. The conversation was friendly but only a few messages were exchanged. Since the conversation had died, I considered deleting his profile. However, after a final review, a new photo with a cut out of Pope Francis caught my eye. With a new ice breaker in hand, we soon began chatting regularly. A few months and numerous dates later, Andy showed up for our date with what I thought was a first day of school gift: a mixtape, a framed picture of us, and flowers. A note inside of the flowers read, “Will you be my girlfriend? Check yes or yes”. What can I say, he literally left me no choice! Almost a year and a half went by and it was clear that Andy and I wanted to spend the rest of our lives choosing to serve and to love each other. We decided to spend the holidays in his hometown of Ogallala, NE. On the afternoon of Christmas Eve Eve, we went for a casual walk with his parents and dog. After taking a picture in front of a tree on the hills behind his home, Andy turned and asked me if I knew why this was his favorite tree in all of Ogallala. I was a little perplexed, so he explained: “Because it’s the tree where I ask you to be my wife!” It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. We are so excited to enter into this sacrament together and look forward to celebrating with you!
