Yes! They're part of the family, too! Please note that there will be no special babysitting or activities for children, so please plan accordingly. However, there are lots of things to do on site, including Frisbee golf, a big soccer field, sand volleyball court, hiking trails, and indoor gym with basketball court, foosball table and pool table.
We'd love for you to dress up for the wedding, dinner and dancing! Smart casual or semi formal attire are welcome. For the reception, if you'd like to wear a fun costume, (Star Trek or that beautiful gown you have in the back of your closet, anyone?) feel free but it is by no means required. Keep in mind, Colorado weather is highly variable -- it could snow or rain. It might be muddy or snowy. We recommend dressing in layers, and bring a raincoat or umbrella. The rest of the weekend, wear whatever you like for the Colorado mountains!
We will be at 9,000 feet in the Colorado mountains in May. This means highly variable weather (it could rain or snow), and it is extremely important to drink water, stay hydrated, and wear sunscreen. Dressing in layers is also recommended. Altitude sickness is real and can include headache, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, and lightheadedness. If it becomes severe, it can be uncomfortable at best and dangerous at worst. One drink at altitude = two drinks at sea level, so please be careful with your consumption of alcohol.
Our Venue is a former Christian summer camp. There are bunkbeds, a huge kitchen, and lots of amenities and fun activities on site. There are also bible verses and crosses, so although we are having a Jewish wedding, we are following the longstanding tradition of celebrating in multipurpose and multicultural spaces. For a venue walk through, watch this video! https://deercreekmountaincamp.com/venue/ This will give you a good idea of terrain and help you plan!
We will have Hebrew and English prayers as part of our ceremony, will be married under a Huppah, and will be breaking a glass at the end of the ceremony. During our reception, we will have Israeli dancing (as well as other types), and there will probably be lifting of the bride and groom on chairs. We will also do a candle lighting on Friday night for Shabbat.
You are coming to celebrate with us and we don't want you to go hungry! Here's the tentative plan for feeding everyone! Casual Dinner & Drinks Friday night Self-Serve selection of snacks & light bites for breakfast & lunch on Saturday Buffet Dinner & Drinks Saturday Self-Serve selection of snacks & light bites on Sunday morning
Parking is available in a marked open field in the lower area of the venue.
A few people have asked about WiFi on site -- there is no wifi due to the nature of the Colorado mountains. According to the venue, baby monitors/walkie talkies are a good option, so if you need to let a little one nap that might be a viable solution on site! We're expecting at least one bunkhouse to be available for naptime.
Yes, please check back for more information as we get closer to our date!
We've rented out the entire property for the weekend! There are over a hundred beds on site, the majority situated in fun bunkhouses but there are also a limited number of private apartments as well. Beds on site are available to all guests and will be provided free of charge. There are 8 cabins with 10 BUNKBEDS apiece. Restrooms, sinks and showers are walking distance, summer camp style with private shower and toilet stalls. Onsite apartments are currently reserved for immediate family but may be opened up depending upon RSPVs. This campsite is at high elevation and we advise guests to be aware of any potential risks involved. May weather in the mountains typically involves pleasant days and chilly nights, but be prepared for potentially varied weather conditions. We ask that if you are consuming alcohol, you stay on site or have a designated driver. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are four RV sites with water and sewer, 30 and 59 amp electrical.
