Fido is in a cute little area called Hillsboro just a couple minutes away from the hotel. This has been one of our favorite local coffee shops and breakfast spots. Our favorites: Local latte Milkbone latte McFido with local sausage, add: avocado and herb garlic cream cheese *pictured above*
Our absolute favorite BBQ spot! Also in 12 South, Edley's is on our favorite places to kick back and enjoy awesome southern BBQ. This location has huge outdoor patio with a fireplace and heat lamps and bar. Our favorites: Dane - Hot chicken plate Andria - Brisket plate ** insider tip: you can get the 'Naynay puddin' (banana pudding for those who don't understand southern) as one of your sides! **
Not only is this place extremely special to us because its where Dane purposed, but it also has super awesome hiking trails and scenery! Only about 15 minutes away from the hotel, you can take a stroll around the lake on a flat loop or take the inclined Ganier ridge route. Either way, enjoy the wildlife!
If you know Andria, you know that she would eat these donuts every single day. This small business that originated in Nashville is a huge favorite of ours. They are known for their famous 100 layer donuts. The dough takes up to three days to make the layers! They also have a verity of other pastry items. Our favorites: Honestly...everything! But if we must choose: Dane - chocolate sea salt, king kong Andria - maple glaze, vegan apple fritter, and tomato pie (for you savory folks)
A great spot for breakfast, lunch, or both! Ruby Sunshine offers traditional southern food at it's finest. It's a great spot for those looking to have some catfish.
One of our favorite places to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is about 30-40 minutes from the hotel. It would be a great time to rent a car for the day and enjoy the scenic route and enjoy the wine and views at the winery.
A sleek gastropub serving up small plates, retro cocktails & tacos until the late hours, plus brunch. Located mid-town full of fun bars and live music, just a 5 minute walk from Virgin Hotel. Our favorites: Eggrolls Son of a brown bag Seoul bowl
Debatably the absolute best ice cream EVER! A must when in Nashville. When we first moved to Nashville, we where visiting Jeni's multiple times a week for several weeks! Danes favorites: salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks, sea salt caramel, darkest chocolate Andria favorites: Gooey butter cake, blackout chocolate cake, brown butter almond brittle ** Get your ice cream with the homemade waffle cone! We are sure your mouth will already be watering when you smell it from outside**
If you are looking for a little outdoor time and history, Bicentennial Park is your destination. Built in 1996, commemorating the 200th anniversary of Tennessee's statehood, this park has sculptures and history throughout the park. For those on the Petersen side of the family, Uncle Pat was in charge of overseeing this project.
A feature of Centennial Park, The Pathenon is a replica of the ancient structure in Greece. You can walk around the exterior or by a ticket to tour the building.
