By the time Virginia arrived in New Orleans for her dermatology rotation at Tulane, Andrew had already been incubating there for six years, somewhere in the long stretch between internship, research, and residency. He gave an emphatic (if unofficial) stamp of approval on Virginia’s rotation, not that anyone was asking for his opinion. It was a brief meeting, a few words in passing, but the kind that quietly sticks with you. A few months later, fate stepped in with a little help from their mutual friend and now bridesmaid, Catherine Roach, a fellow dermatology resident. When Virginia was looking for a place to live, Catherine suggested she check out Andrew’s shotgun double in Uptown. Before long, she and her dog Moose had moved into the other half of the house, and their paths crossed again, this time for good. What began as neighborly chats, a shared Budweiser here, a Category 4 hurricane there (Ida) turned into longer conversations, dog walks, more Budweisers, and an easy friendship that neither of them saw coming, though apparently others, and probably the dogs, did. Moose quickly took charge of the household, while Andrew’s labs, Annie and Norman, found themselves quickly overshadowed, literally. Over the next year, between busy clinic days and long nights of Virginia studying, friendship turned into something more. By the time Andrew finished residency, it was clear this was something special. Since then, they have built a life full of adventure, from New Orleans humidity to Maine winters, from medical training to real jobs, and from two shotgun halves to one shared home, with Annie, Norman, and Moose still firmly in charge. -- We cannot wait to celebrate with y’all and everything that is yet to come!
