A Story Written by God

“He makes all things beautiful in His time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11

It all began in the most ordinary of places—on the basketball courts of Drayson Center in Loma Linda. A mutual friend had gathered a few people for a casual game, and among them were Andrew and Felicia. Neither knew it then, but that afternoon would become the quiet beginning of a story only God could write. As time passed, their paths kept crossing through mutual friends. What began as teamwork and laughter gradually grew into a deep, faith-filled friendship. Alongside a close group—later called HQ—they shared devotionals, worship nights, and long talks about faith and purpose. Through meals, gym days, and Bible studies, Andrew and Felicia found themselves drawn to each other in ways that felt natural and divine. Eventually, feelings grew, though both were cautious. Their friendship was precious, and Felicia knew pursuing something more wouldn’t be simple. But love often reveals itself quietly. One evening, watching a movie under the stars, Andrew gently reached for her hand—a small gesture that spoke volumes. That moment became hours of conversation as they realized how long they had tried to ignore what was already clear. They chose to wait on God’s timing, even if it meant stepping back. Yet when God plants a love, distance cannot uproot it. Their hearts kept returning to each other. On September 2, 2018, after many prayers and conversations, they chose to pursue each other intentionally, trusting that if their love was from God, He would make a way. What followed was a journey of faith and patience. Challenges came, but each drew them closer to God and one another. Surrounded by friends and family who prayed with them, they learned to release control and trust God’s timing. During that season, God gave them an unexpected gift: music. They joined a singing group called Engraved, not knowing that songs like He Is Able, Two or Three, Jesus Never Fails, and Your Ways Are Higher Than Mine would become personal reminders of hope. Each lyric assured them God was still writing their story. Over the years, Felicia’s parents remained a steady presence. Wanting to honor God and their families, Andrew and Felicia approached each step thoughtfully. Through prayer and heartfelt conversations, understanding and peace grew naturally. On September 2, 2021, Andrew officially asked Felicia to be his girlfriend, bouquet in hand. Still, they count their anniversary from September 2, 2018—the day they first chose each other intentionally. In 2025, they celebrated seven years. Their relationship continued to strengthen. They grew close to Andrew’s family, attended couples’ life groups, and completed pre-engagement counseling to build a solid foundation. They discovered a shared love for adventure—traveling from Hawaii to Switzerland, from Canada to Japan—each trip a reminder of God’s faithfulness. Then, under the sparkling Parisian night sky with the Eiffel Tower glowing in front of them, Andrew whispered the words Felicia had long known in her heart: “I love you.” God kept opening doors. During a family trip in October 2024, meaningful conversations unfolded—bringing renewed warmth and clarity. Soon after, Andrew and Felicia began visiting her parents in Texas several times, sharing meals and moments that drew both families closer. On August 24, 2025, grace blossomed into joy. Both families gathered in Texas for a traditional Indonesian lamaran ceremony—a celebration of unity and gratitude. Finally, on November 8, 2025, at 4:13 PM in Yosemite, Andrew asked Felicia the most important question of his life. Under towering cliffs and an open sky, Felicia said yes—to a lifetime of love, faith, and partnership. From a simple basketball game to seven years of prayer, growth, and grace, their story is a testimony of God’s faithfulness—a reminder that when God writes the story, every chapter unfolds with purpose, and every ending is worth the wait.
