FAQs

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Formal, with room to make it your own. Consider this your excuse to wear the dress that’s been waiting for its moment, pull out the suit you love, or go for something a little extra. Dress up, have fun with it, and most importantly, wear something that makes you feel like yourself.

Question

Are children welcome, and will there be childcare?

Answer

Absolutely! We’re so excited to have your children joining us for the day. We know weddings can be a long day for little ones, so we’re currently considering arranging a childcare service for part of the day. If your child is under 13 and this is something you think you would like to use, please let us know when you RSVP. This will help us understand numbers and decide what would work best for the children joining us. Of course, the service would be completely optional, and children are very welcome to stay with their parents throughout the day.

Question

What should I expect from the weather, and will we be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Early May in Somerset should bring lovely spring weather, but this is England, so sunshine, clouds, wind and rain may all make an appearance. Our ceremony at All Saints Church will be indoors. At Brympton House, we’re hoping to enjoy the drinks reception outside if the weather allows, while the wedding breakfast and evening party will both be indoors. We recommend checking the forecast closer to the day and bringing a light layer or jacket just in case. English spring can be deceptively chilly, even when the forecast looks mild.

Question

A quick translation for our American guests

Answer

A few British wedding terms may sound slightly unfamiliar, so here’s your cheat sheet: Wedding breakfast = the reception dinner. Despite the name, it isn’t breakfast! Bank holiday = a public holiday, which also means a busy travel weekend.

Question

Is there parking at the church and reception venue?

Answer

Yes! Free parking is available at both venues. At All Saints Church, parking is available in the car park to the right of the church, in front of All Saints Village Hall. At Brympton House, parking is available in front of the house.

Question

Will transport be provided?

Answer

Yes. For guests travelling by train, we will provide a coach from Axminster Station to All Saints Church for the ceremony, followed by transport from the church to Brympton House for the reception. We’ll share exact timings and further details closer to the wedding.

Question

What time should we arrive at the church?

Answer

Please arrive at All Saints Church from 12:00pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 12:30pm, so please allow enough time to arrive, find your seat and get settled beforehand.

Question

Can we take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

Of course! You’re very welcome to take a few photos, but we’d love for phones to stay tucked away for most of the ceremony so we can see all your lovely faces in our professional photos. We’ll have both a photographer and videographer capturing the day, so there’s no need to worry about filming or getting the perfect shot. We’d much rather you relax, be present and enjoy the moment with us.

Question

Can you accommodate dietary requirements and allergies?

Answer

Absolutely! Please include any dietary requirements or allergies when you RSVP so we can pass them along to our caterers and make sure you’re well looked after. The earlier we know, the better, so please include as much detail as you can when responding.

Question

How will drinks and the bar work?

Answer

During the drinks reception, we’ll be providing wine, beer, cider and soft drinks, with spirits available to purchase from the bar. For the wedding breakfast, we’ll provide wine for the tables and Champagne for the toasts. The bar will also be open from 14:00 to 18:00, so additional drinks can be purchased during dinner. Please note that any alcohol served during the wedding breakfast must stay within the dining room and cannot be taken through to the evening celebrations afterwards. Later in the evening, drinks will be available to purchase from The Stables bar. For those staying at Brympton House, you’re very welcome to bring your own drinks to keep in your room for later in the evening. The venue asks that outside alcohol stays within the accommodation rather than the wedding spaces.

Question

What time does the evening finish?

Answer

Our wedding celebrations will finish at 1:00am. If you’re not staying at Brympton House, we strongly recommend pre-booking a taxi home. Taxis can be limited in the area, particularly late at night and over the bank holiday weekend, so please don’t rely on being able to book one on the night.
