Tshristi Rijal

and

Andrew Brown

June 6, 2026

Escondido, CA

Worlds Apart

Their first date lasted over four hours, and that is not including Tshristi being twenty minutes late. To be fair, Andrew did request that they meet in an obscure sushi restaurant which was "halfway" between the two. (Tshristi swears it was closer to Andrew, but the jury is still out.) Most people wait three days before going on a second date, some wait a week. Andrew and Tshristi had their second date four months later. At the time, Tshristi lived in Riverside, CA, and Andrew in Los Angeles. Even though they were only 50 miles apart, according to Southern California code, they might as well have lived on different planets. Worlds apart. In fact, for most of their lives, they have been worlds apart. Tshristi grew up in Nepal and Andrew in California. They come from different backgrounds, different religions, different professions... the odds that these two could even meet are outstanding. The odds that they would would fall in love are astronomical. They soon found out that in spite of all these differences, Tshristi and Andrew are surprisingly alike. They share beliefs in the importance of family, culture, ambitions, respect, and most importantly, food. After spending two years battling treacherous SoCal traffic and hectic schedules, they moved in together. And in May 2025, Andrew proposed. For those of you doing the math at home: A FOUR-hour date. FOUR months to the second date. FOUR years of dating. And starting June 6, 2026, they pledge to be married FOURever.
