We met each other at Pacific Lutheran University. We shared some classes together and graduated one year apart. After a couple years, we reunited at Steel Creek in Tacoma.

We were enjoying a spontaneous trip to Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands. We woke up to a beautiful day in the harbor, and in true Andrew fashion, he couldn't wait to get on the water. I enjoyed a fun morning of games with the girls while Andrew did his inaugural dingy ride with his dad, brother, and a family friend. When he returned, he was VERY eager to take me on a ride. I took my time, eating my lunch and socializing with the group, while Andrew was pacing and pushing me to finish my fries. Finally, Andrew got me on the dingy, but forced me to sit at the front, for no reason other than he was "hot". He drove out to the opening of the harbor, when suddenly he yelled "is that a whale??". I turned around abruptly to catch sight of the animal, and yelled for Andrew to get a move on so I could see it! He said to hold on a moment, then said it was finally okay for me to go sit back next to him so we could go faster and catch it. When I turned around, he was on one knee, in the dingy, and asked me to marry him. I was first impressed by the fact he managed to take a knee in the dingy, then immediately crouched down very low so I didn't accidentally throw the ring into the water! It was the perfect proposal made in one of our favorite places.
