Our Love Story

Andrew and Teresa had initially only known of each other in passing through mutuals. They both were actually at the same OSU house party in 2012 but no words were exchanged - Teresa was having fun conversations with her girlfriends, while Andrew was drunkenly playing pong in the kitchen. Little did they know that their future partner was on the opposite side of the room. Fast forward to 2019, Andrew moved down to Columbus for a new job opportunity. He scavenged the dating apps, and while on the last day of a business trip in Toronto, came across Teresa’s profile on Coffee Meets Bagel (luckily the app was still searching on hot Columbus locals). He was surprised, excited and nervous to see a familiar face but wasn’t sure if he should swipe right knowing that the result could be awkward between “friends” who haven’t even met. So he decided to take time to think about it on the flight back, contemplating either to pass and move on, or try to connect with a girl that he always thought was cute. Once back home, Andrew decided the right thing to do was to swipe right on Teresa with the hopes of starting something that he didn’t have the chance to before. As he reopened the app to find Teresa, she was nowhere to be found with no luck after endless swiping. Andrew had to rely on his last resort – create a new profile and match once and for all, and it worked! The first date consisted of getting to know more about each other, talking about family, mutual friends, and dark humor over mediocre Mexican food. The date lasted over 5 memorable hours, thankfully with Teresa carrying the conversations. Teresa even asked Andrew if this was a date or just a hangout as friends. Andrew smoothly said "whatever you want it to be" (single guys - do not say this, it won't always work). Saving the day, Teresa responded with "then it's a date." As they were about to say their goodbyes and part ways, Andrew was content and thought the date went well, however internally he was questioning whether she liked him enough to warrant a second date. To squash those thoughts, Teresa pulled him in for a goodbye kiss (on the lips! plus teeth-on-teeth action). While it wasn’t the best first kiss, both Andrew and Teresa went their separate ways with butterflies. After only a few more dates, Andrew knew that Teresa was the perfect soulmate and uttered “I love you” first (stupidly, because Teresa didn’t say it back. It took her two days to say it back :/). After gaining the acceptance of each other’s families and best friends, enjoying several vacations, and even living together over the span of three years, both Andrew and Teresa felt as if they were already practically married, minus the ring. In 2022 with the help of Qisti, Teresa’s best friend, Andrew planned to propose to Teresa in Washington DC along the Tidal Basin after dinner under the guise of her post-birthday getaway week. Leading her along the basin around 10pm and unexpectedly with no streetlights, Teresa rightfully so assumed she was about to be kidnapped or merked. The plan was slowly falling apart with Teresa's skepticism growing. Andrew and Qisti could only communicate telepathically to each other with Teresa next to them, which worked just as well as you’d imagine. Once they reached an area with some dim lighting, big-brained Qisti said she wanted to have her picture and their picture taken along the water. As she held two phones up (one for additional lighting and one secretly recording), Andrew got on one knee as her countdown reached one. While any normal girl who was told repeatedly by her boyfriend to dress up that night may have caught on to the plan, Teresa was not expecting this! With tears streaming and a lot of “omg omg,” Teresa’s selective hearing kicked in and did not listen to Andrew’s speech. She joyfully said “YES” and was thankful she did not get merked.
