They’ve grown even closer through their shared love for surgery, swapping stories about bay thoracotomies and commiserating over long call shifts. Tara also takes credit for setting Nikki up with her husband Clif! Even from different cities, they continue to be each other’s steady source of support through every step of residency.

A newer relationship on this list, but one that’s grown quickly, is between Andrew and his brother-in-law, Olly. Their friendship has since grown well beyond family events and is one that will only continue to strengthen with time.

Jason and Andrew met at Lehigh in 2013. Often mistaken for dating, they share a long list of similar interests—from Japanese culture to New York Times games and puzzles. Believe it or not, they’ve been locked in a three-year-long competition across various NYT games. Their friendship easily defies distance, and whenever their better halves plan a meetup, you can bet Jason and Andrew have already coordinated theirs well in advance and it will be way more fun even if it’s just the two of them.
