Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favorite!

A photo, a Christmas card & a cab ride.

Who would have thought that a shared cab ride would lead to a shared life that has lasted 30 years (and counting). Imagine two kids from Harlem, less than 3 miles away from each other, would relocate to the Bronx around the same time in the 70’s. Living just a mile apart there, but still never meeting, we unknowingly made some of the same friends and ultimately we met in a school that neither one of us were supposed to attend. This parallel path was destiny and the opening chapter of our story. Sabrina and I met at Harry S Truman High School one day when a mutual friend asked her to take a picture of a group of us. We didn't have classes together, but I did with friends of hers. After graduation, we saw each other again here and there in passing....I gave her my address and telephone number. She never called but she did send me a Christmas card that I didn't know was from her at the time. Then one snowy night in January, as fate would have it, we were both waiting for a cab at the Gun Hill Rd train station. Being my usual chivalrous self, I offered to share a cab with her and have her get dropped off first. When she told the cab driver her address, it clicked that she was the one that sent me the Christmas card. I asked for her digits, got permission to give her a kiss and the rest is history. We had marathon phone conversations, I impressed her with my record collection and introduced her to the world of Monty Python humor. Although we had challenges figuring out how to be parents to our two beautiful children, we still found ways to make time for each other. We grew up with them for the most part. We love dancing, music, movies, making each other laugh but we especially love traveling and going to sporting events...often times mixing the two! We've had the good fortune of being best friends, first and foremost, and we can attest to THAT being the cornerstone of our foundation. Our life experiences together have made us stronger. Our friends and family have been a welcomed cheering section for us over the years and to those of you reading this, we say THANK YOU for being a part of our love story.
