We met the summer of 2016 when I was working with the youth group at Colonial Presbyterian. Andrew had worked the summer before and came to Wednesday nights to volunteer. We hung out a few times but lost touch when we went back to college, and barely saw each other over the next three years. Then, in May of 2019, I was studying for finals my senior year and took a break to scroll through Facebook. I saw that it was Andrew's birthday. I was studying with a friend and she convinced me to text him happy birthday, and we started talking from there. A few days later, when I graduated, we lost touch again. About a month later I interviewed with a law firm and was offered the job. I wanted to reach out to an attorney to make sure the firm was reputable and the only attorney I knew was Andrew's dad Rob, so I reached out to him. A few days after we spoke, he was talking with Andrew on the phone and in passing brought up that I had taken a job at a law firm. Andrew says he had been looking for an opportunity to talk to me again and used this to reach out. After a few weeks of texting, we started Facetiming about once a week. We talked for longer and longer (like five or six hours) and eventually decided to meet up at the end of August in Des Moines, IA which was the closest we could get to halfway. We started dating after that weekend, on August 21st, which marks our anniversary. We met up about once a month while Andrew was living in MN, but eventually got tired of long distance. In March of 2020 Andrew took a job closer to me and moved to Nevada, MO. This was such a blessing from the Lord because he was able to find a job and move right before everyone went on lockdown for Covid. It would've been hard to date long distance over Covid, and nearly impossible for Andrew to find a new job. Andrew proposed on our 18 month anniversary, six months from our wedding. Our wedding will be our two year anniversary, and it's crazy to think how much has changed in two years!
