We met at a wine class at RIT — which couldn't be more perfect for us! However, it wasn't love at first sight. It took us nearly the whole semester before we had our first date. We were at a cider harvesting party that we had heard about from our class instructor. I brought my sister, Lauren, and Andrew arrived alone. Not knowing anyone else there, the three of us hung out. When Andrew stepped away, Lauren suggested I ask him out, but I was a little nervous. When a window of opportunity presented itself, Lauren proceeded to invite him to our movie plans later that night. He said yes and we exchanged numbers. Although the movie plan didn't quite work out, fast-forward to the following Monday when we had our wine class. As class ended, Andrew invited me to Taco Tuesday the following night with his friends and I said yes! What started off as a group dinner at the bar, quickly turned into us having our own side conversation for over an hour. It was then we knew we had hit it off and here we are six and a half years later!
In July of 2020, we talked about getting married and decided that I would pick out my own ring...because we all know how "particular" I can be! In late July, I found the perfect ring at an antique shop and Andrew purchased it the following day. Then I waited for him to propose! And I waited. And I waited... Finally in October, we decided to take a little getaway to Vermont. While I hoped the proposal would happen while we were there, I wasn't sure what Andrew had planned. For the first morning we were there, I planned a hike thinking "how picturesque it would be for a proposal!" We took in the views at the top of the mountain and took some photos. Andrew said he wanted to take my picture, then told me to turn around so he could take some artsy ones. When I waited and didn't hear anything, I turned back to find Andrew down on one knee. We celebrated at the top with a bottle of bubbles Andrew snuck in the backpack!
