After closure of the hospital Makenna had been working at since she graduated nursing school, she moved to Madison, WI in the spring of 2024 for a travel contract as a nurse at a local hospital. One week into the move to Madison, Makenna received a notification that she had an admirer on Hinge. A tall, handsome engineer caught her attention and she agreed to a date of drinks and appetizers overlooking the beautiful capitol building. Makenna & Andrew spent the summer sitting by the pool, kayaking the Madison lakes, and getting to know each other over cocktails on Andrew’s balcony. It was very clear to both of them that they had something special. After an afternoon of eating Culver’s and reading in a hammock, Andrew asked Makenna to be his girlfriend, and she happily agreed. After only a few months of dating, Makenna proposed an idea to take advantage of travel nursing and explore other parts of the country. She suggested taking contracts in Seattle, Hawaii, or Denver and wondered if Andrew wanted to join her. While moving across the country with someone you just met may seem like a crazy idea to most, Andrew was all in. With Andrew’s company being headquartered in Denver, the adventure became possible, and the planning quickly ensued. A couple months later, a travel contract was accepted, a lease was signed, and the Denver adventure was on. Makenna & Andrew spent the Fall of 2024 checking items off their Colorado bucket list. They attended a Benson Boon concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, hiked the Manitou incline climbing 2768 steps, explored Rocky Mountain National Park, enjoyed a winter weekend in an A-frame cabin outside of Breckenridge, and so much more. The experience was the ultimate test of their relationship which solidified that they were meant to be together. While Makenna and Andrew were sad to say goodbye to their time in Colorado, they were excited to settle into a new apartment together in Madison. Within the month of their return, Makenna & Andrew were shopping for an engagement ring! Andrew spent the next several months planning the perfect proposal in Madison which never came to fruition… Coincidentally, Andrew & Makena were headed back to Denver to attend a friend’s wedding. Without a plan, Andrew brought the ring with him, hoping the perfect moment would present itself, and present itself it did. Andrew & Makenna hiked through the snow to a 360 degree view of the mountain tops. Back in Colorado, in the mountains, with no one around, it was the perfect moment to pop the question. Andrew & Makenna’s playful nature, adventurous spirits, and shared outlook on life makes them perfect for each other. They’re savoring this season of engagement and looking forward to all the adventures life has in store. They are so excited to celebrate their big day with all of you!
