In 2018, Karis and Andrew were both students in the same high school marching band. Despite attending the same school and having many mutual friends, the two never formally met. Fast forward to January 2022, when Andrew decided to contact Karis through social media because of her passion for anime and video games. Although the pair clicked instantly, they were heading in two different directions for college. Over the next few years, Karis and Andrew managed to be loose friends, checking up on each other from time to time. Then, in the fall of 2024, when Karis decided to transfer to Baylor University, everything changed. Now, only living an hour and a half from each other, the two reconnected and realized they had a connection that had never faded from the day they met.
