Andrew and I first met at church on my first Sunday visiting Gospel Grace Church. Though the brief conversation was memorable, friendship wasn't cultivated until weeks later when Andrew returned to Salt Lake City after Thanksgiving break. Our conversations at Sunday night volleyball and dinner outings with friends were intentional and meaningful, however, Andrew's plans to move back to California after completing nursing school would guard our hearts from pursuing anything greater than friendship. While Andrew was at home in California over Christmas break, God began to work in his heart and He revealed a desire to stay in Salt Lake after graduation to continue growing spiritually and serving alongside Gospel Grace Church (GGC). After he returned, Andrew and I continued hang out in group settings with other friends at GGC. On a group hike in late January, Andrew asked if I would go snowboarding with him the following Saturday knowing I had been wanting to go for sometime. Though I had never been snowboarding before, I gave him an enthusiastic yes! Our first date lasted for 14 hours and involved many falls, laughs, spiritual conversations, and a small amount of snowboarding. From there on we would continue to spend time with another and as we cultivated a deep friendship we also grew in our personal intimacies with Christ. After almost five months of dating, God blessed us with a week of vacation in Yosemite National Park with Andrew's family and friends. At the end of that week on June 28th, 2019, at the Ahwahnee Hotel and restaurant, Andrew asked me to be his wife.... and I said yes! We were joyfully congratulated by Andrew's friends and family in Yosemite, and later after our return trip home, by so many other loved ones across the country! Ever since then, we have continued to praise God with hearts of thankfulness, and will continue to do so, as we pursue God and each other!
