It was a beautiful summer day, we had planned to go for a sunset kayaking trip, but decided that we weren't feeling up to it, so we would stay home, cook on the grill, and Andrew would teach me to play poker. We had a delicious steak dinner on the grill, we set up our camping table outside with some lawn chairs, a speaker, and our poker set. We were enjoying ourselves, having fun, goofing around like we normally do. We didn't even notice that the sun started to set! We decided that it would be better to move the game inside. Once we were settled inside, Andrew started teaching me how to bluff, when to, when not to, etc.. I thought well great, I can do this! He dealt the cards, and I had a pair of threes. I thought that we were still practicing so I started to bluff like I had a good hand, hoping that he would fold, and I would get the pot that was slowly accumulating more and more chips. Surprised, Andrew thought that I actually had good cards. He stood up from the table and said "wait here", so I waited. He came back, and set a ring box on the table. My face immediately lit up, I went to grab the box and he stopped me. "This is part of the pot, if you win the hand, you win the ring!" Now, if you know anything about poker, you know I WAS NOT WINNING THAT DAMN POT WITH A PAIR OF THREES. We both folded our hand to see what the other had and I lost by a landslide, Andrew had a pair of face cards and I my 3's. We instantly started laughing so hard that we both had tears coming out of our eyes. "I thought you actually had something good!" He said still laughing. He grabbed the ring, got down on one knee, and said "although you lost the pot, I'll still give you the ring, Jorden Lynn Wyman, will you marry me?" And the rest is history.
