We met at an orientation party for medical school. He had taken over the speakers and started playing the song, "No Diggity" by Blackstreet. A few of our classmates asked him if he could change the song, and I shouted over them: "You can't turn off No Diggity!" We locked eyes over the keg, and the rest is history.
We had packed up the car to drive up to DC to stay the night before flying out to Peru the next morning. Nate was driving and an hour in to the drive we had switched routes to start driving towards Charlottesville. "I have a surprise" was all he would tell me; but I knew what was coming. As we drove over the mountains approaching the city, the skies darkened and opened up with rain so heavy we could barely see the road. Nate thought all his plans had just been ruined. But as soon as we came down the other side of the mountains towards Charlottesville, as quickly as it had started, the rain passed and the sun started shining again. We parked by grounds and Nate took my hand, walking me down the lawn and up the stairs of the Rotunda where he proposed, and I said "Yes!" We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Cville!
