Andrew and Francesca first crossed paths tailgating on the LSU Parade Grounds, where Francesca saw Andrew throwing a football. The football wasn't flying the best out of Andrew's hand that day, and Francesca thought she could throw better than him. A mutual friend wanted to see if she was right, so he took the ball and gave it to Francesca, who launched a perfect spiral and walked away. She didn't even tell Andrew her name. A few months later, Andrew and Francesca were reunited in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. With Krewe of Endymion rolling through the streets, Francesca and Andrew got to know each other more formally and went out on their first date that week. And the rest is history!
Andrew proposed to Francesca on Governors Island in New York City. Andrew lived on the island when he was younger while his father was in the Coast Guard. It's a special place for Andrew's family, and he wanted to share it with Francesca. After surprising Francesca with her sister from Boston, they ventured to Governors Island. Before they left the island that afternoon, Andrew asked to get one last picture with Francesca. (Governors Island has beautiful views of the NYC skyline.) As Andrew’s mom and Francesca’s sister lined up to take the photo, Andrew bent down on one knee and proposed to Francesca. It was an unforgettable afternoon and a perfect place for a proposal!
