Travel

Below is some travel information, including the airport and some methods to reach the city, as well as a few hotel suggestions. However, you can of course find your own hotels/travel arrangements as you see fit! If you find a hotel, you can always ask us what we think.

Flight

Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Airport code: ARN Fly to this airport!! Don't fly to Västerås or Skavska, some airlines pretend these are Stockholm airports, they are lying. They're hours away. Newcastle guests: there is no direct flight to Stockholm, however you can fly with KLM through Amsterdam or BA through Heathrow. Or you can fly directly from Edinburgh. Dutch & Belgian guests: you can fly directly to Stockholm via Brussels or Amsterdam.

Train

Arlanda Express

You can travel from the airport to the centre of the city in 18 minutes with this train. Tip: buy group tickets for a discount. They have an app too.

Travel Note

A note on Taxis

If you take a taxi from the airport, it's highly recommended to get an Uber/Bolt or a reputable taxi company like Taxi Stockholm. Only take a taxi with a fixed fee; there can be 'private taxi' companies at the airport which charge on a meter and can therefore become very expensive (3-4x the normal cost). The normal expected cost of a taxi to the city centre would be up to around 700kr.

Travel Note

On taking public transport around the city

When travelling around Stockholm, you can pre-buy tickets on the SL App or just tap your debit card when you want to enter - you will get 75 minutes to travel per purchase. SL tickets work across the Subway, Busses, and Trams (and Ferries marked with the blue and white SL logo). Unlike lots of other cities around the world, in Stockholm, you don't have to 'tap-out' to leave the Subway or any other form of transportation.
