Here is a useful link on how to travel internationally using your own cell phone: https://irelandfamilyvacations.com/tips-using-mobile-phone-ireland/ireland-travel-tips/ Typically when my family and I go over, we make sure our phones are unlocked with our service provider so that when we get there we can go into a cell phone store and purchase an unlimited data/text sim card. We are always sure to carry extra safety pins on us so we can get the sim card in and out if need be. Our go-to sim card is with a company called "Three" and typically only costs around €30. You should be able to find these in any cell phone store! We like this route because the service is always great and you don't have to worry about your phone until you leave!
Ireland has a rich culture of locally sourced food and everything is DELICIOUS. Try to avoid the every day chains we have here in America and instead try your hand at some local restaurants to really immerse yourself in the culture.

YES. 1000x yes. You may have a GPS on your phone but it is better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to lose service or run out of cell phone battery in the middle of a new country. Invest in the car GPS.
Ireland uses a large Type G power outlet with three square prongs which is consistent throughout the rest of the UK as well. Ireland’s standard voltage is 230V and 50Hz frequency. This is different from the voltage in the US which uses 120 volts, so you’ll need to use an adapter to plug in your electronics while in Ireland. To purchase one prior to your trip, follow the link below! Be sure to purchase the "United Kingdom" option. Best part is, it comes in a 3 pack so you can share! https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Travel-Adapter-USB-Ports/dp/B01M4JOJQ8/?tag=1331-ireland-power-adapter-20&th=1
