Great question! We are paying for the accommodations. The biggest remaining costs during the trip will come from food/drinks and activities. We're thinking to cut these costs by grocery shopping and eating some meals (breakfast) at the AirBnB. We ask that each person contribute $150 ($300 per couple) toward these costs. We will cover the rest. We don't want to price anyone out of this experience. If $150 is too much, please contribute what you can, however little. We will figure out money and payments from those that RSVP closer to the date.
We love your pets and children. However, we ask that you make arrangements and do not bring them. Unfortunately, the AirBnB is not pet friendly and we don't expect that the activities and environment will be conducive to children. We do know that this is a stress for you and we appreciate your sacrifice.
We intend to have food at the AirBnB from a grocery run. This will be used for snacks and possibly cooking a few meals at the property. Over the course of the 4 days, we will likely eat out a number of times. We are aware that across the group there are many dietary restrictions. By grocery shopping on arrival day, we hope to make sure that each person will have safe and yummy food available. We also encourage you to bring specific snacks you want to have or to share if you think they might be hard to come by in the mountains.
Yes. Due to our friend's allergies, we request that you refrain from bringing tree nuts (peanuts are fine).
We are planning to adventure out into the mountains or the nearby cities for fun, restaurants, hiking, etc. We will ask for volunteers to drive/provide rides for these different activities.
Summer in the south is hot and humid. Rainstorms can threaten any moment. You should have clothes for these different types of weather. If you will be going whitewater rafting and hiking you might consider swimwear and hiking shoes/boots. Sunscreen and bug spray will be a must. As we update the schedule, keep an eye on the activities and plan accordingly. There will be a hot tub and a pool at the AirBnB for our use!
We don't want you to buy or rent crazy expensive suits/dresses. We ask that you wear white (yes white), black, or one of our two wedding colors. You can find these colors by googling the hexadecimal color codes (#370136 #002611). Ceremony attire is anything but a T-shirt and shorts.
We have imagined a lot of different activities. At the AirBnB we can play corn hole, video games, boardgames, card games, etc. We also plan to go on several excursions. A hike along the Alum Cave Trail (11 miles) is one of the activities currently under consideration. Other activities include tubing or whitewater rafting on the river, treetop canopy tour/zip lining, a trip to Dollywood, and exploring wineries and breweries. We know some people may not be interested in all the activities. You are obviously free to abstain and we may help plan alternative activities like a spa day for those that wish.
You might be just a little hesitant about 4 days in a cabin in the woods with strangers - completely understandable. We're hoping that by the time our wedding rolls around, you'll at least know of everyone invited or have met them in person. About 16 people were invited. These include childhood and college friends as well as friends from graduate school.
There is parking at the AirBnB for about 6-7 cars.
Assuming nothing goes wrong in the next year, we have booked an AirBnB in Sevierville, TN. https://tinyurl.com/AndrewAndColinGetMarried
