You're in luck—February is peak whale season in Cabo! You might spot humpbacks breaching right off the beach, but we would recommend scheduling a whale watching tour to see the whales up close. Our favorite whale watching tour is through Cabo Adventures, but you will see whales up close if you go out on any boat.
Explore crystal-clear waters and colorful marine life—perfect for all ages and skill levels. We like the Wild Cabo snorkeling tour, but there are a number of options for snorkeling.
La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, is a seaside city on the eastern coast of the Baja Peninsula, about 2 hours from Cabo San Lucas. It’s known for its relaxed atmosphere, natural beauty, and incredible marine life. La Paz borders the Sea of Cortez—famously dubbed “the world’s aquarium” by Jacques Cousteau—for its rich biodiversity, including whale sharks, sea lions, dolphins, and more. In fact, several tours provide the opportunity to swim with whale sharks in La Paz.
If you're up for a little adventure, we highly recommend a day trip to Todos Santos, a charming boho surf town just over an hour from Cabo. This Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town) is full of art galleries, boutique shops, delicious food, and a chill, artsy vibe.
Downtown Cabo San Lucas is a vibrant area with plenty of shops, taquerias, bars and clubs. Take a walk around the marina and surrounding streets, you will be sure to stumble upon something fun. Please note, it is about a 40 minute drive from our wedding venue and hotel.
If you go to the marina in downtown Cabo San Lucas, there are a number of glass bottom boat drivers, who are waiting to take people out on their boats. You can typically negotiate with the drivers for the amount of time and price for a trip around the harbor, and to see The Arc and Lover's Beach. This is always a fun option to explore and have a day on the water! Bring your bathing suits.
