Andy had just moved to Indy and started coaching baseball at Butler University. I was on fall break and wanted to meet some new people. Andy and I met on tinder the first day that I downloaded the app. Ironically enough he was the first person to strike up a conversation with me. After taking it slow and texting everyday for about a month we decided to meet up. We had brunch at a cute cafe on the north side. I was late of course and he was there 10 minutes early, which means he waited for me for almost 20 min! 🤷🏻♀️ After a breakfast neither one of us could even remember what we talked about because we were so nervous! To this day we try to remember what the conversations consisted of. But, that breakfast sealed the deal because we started going on dates and talking almost every day afterwards. 🖤
After dating for a few months it was time to ring in the new year. Andy asked what my plans were for New Year’s Eve and I invited him to My friend’s party. Andy fit right in with all of the guys and he got the best friend approval from Sam. That night when we got back to my place he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said no. He didn’t give up though and got me to let down my guard and make it official. The next day we went to what would be the first of many Butler Basketball games, where we were both feeling the effects of the NYE party. It was definitely a moment we still laugh about today!
Andy and I had been talking about getting married, so I knew the question was going to be asked eventually. We had a trip planned to Florida where we would spend New Years Eve/our anniversary, so I was expecting some type of beach proposal. But, Andy surprised me by popping the question on a mountain hike in Utah! We were there visiting his sister for Thanksgiving and went on a beautiful scenic hike in the mountains. When I thought we were posing for a picture Andy dropped to his knee and asked me to be his wife! Shocked and surprised, I of course said YES! 💍
