On Sunday, December 22, 2019, Anneliese was fully in Christmas break from school but her schedule was still packed with working the holiday season in retail, buying last minute presents, and baking her world famous cookies. However, a friend was in town and kept insisting she join in their group that rides at Buck Hill every Sunday. Knowing this would be one of the few times she could go boarding this year, Anneliese conceded. Andrew's friend had been asking him to join their weekly snowboarding group for weeks but he always said no, because of his early weekday work schedule. Yet, this particular occasion, he was on a break for Christmas. He was finally able to join! Obviously, God had some plans in store for them. Andrew saw Anneliese first, as she was riding at the bottom of the hill. He was impressed with how she rode. So, Andrew told his friend, who invited him, to help start a conversation. To the friend, this meant push Andrew into the lift chair that Anneliese was attempting to sit on. Anneliese was knocked off balance and almost fell off the lift, if it wasn’t for Andrews quick moves to grab onto Anneliese and pull her back on the chair and back to safety! Talk about breaking the ice. They were able to talk about their jobs as well as some interests and hobbies on that short chair lift up to the top. Andrew was hooked. Anneliese, not so much. She thought that was the last interaction with -what’s his name- ever. Luckily for Andrew, the group decide to go out and get food at Raising Canes. The tables were packed with snowboarders and skiers, but there was one empty spot across from Andrew, and Anneliese sat in it! (Thunderous applause) After that night, the two of them were able to connect on Facebook and start conversing back and forth. A week later Andrew invited Anneliese to go rock-climbing. And thus began their adventure. Rock-climbing, disc golfing, snowboarding, north shore hiking, biblical challenges, and The Office bingeing.
