Rainey Street is a bunch of renovated houses turned into bungalow bars. Day or night, you’ll find your vibe! We love hopping between Bangers, Icenhauers, and Bungalow
We love Vaquero Taquero - it's one of our top three favorite taco places! We often go on long walks after work, enjoying the nice weather and catching up on our days. What we get: Al Pastor Quesadilla, Bistec Quesadilla
Our friends Jersey and Katie introduced this truck to us at about 1AM on a Saturday night when we went searching for something salty and substantial. And it's been a favorite ever since! What we get: Asada, Pollo, Pastor, Barbacoa Tacos
Loro is a collaboration between the owners of Franklin Barbecue and the famous Austin sushi haunt, Uchi. During the pandemic, our weekends were often spent at Zilker Park with beer, food, can jam and our pup. We first tried Loro during one of these excursions and have continued to go back ever since. The food, the cocktails and the company *chef's kiss! What we get: honestly, everything! You can't go wrong!
This is, in our humble opinion, one of the best pizza joints in Austin. Since they sell them by the slice, it's a great choice if you're looking for lunch or dinner on South Congress. What we get: usually cheese or pep with garlic knots!
We actually stumbled on this place when looking at wedding venues! Although we didn't end up picking Mattie's, their southern style brunch is exceptional and the large trees sprinkled with peacocks is incredibly picturesque. What we get: Buttermilk biscuits, Milk Punch French Toast, Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict, Mimosas
Quack's bakery and cafe holds a really special place in our hearts (it's also an Austin institution). Since the start of the pandemic, we've gone to Quack's at least once a week. Our Saturday morning walks with Albert often miraculously end at Quack's with a ham+cheese croissant in hand. Breaks between games of Spades with our friends Lindsay and Nate often found us at Quack's with a cupcake or an Eat Your Feelings (cake shavings with icing). What we get: Iced Latte, Ham and Cheese croissant, any of their cupcakes, eat your feelings (sometimes BOGO), salted oatmeal raisin cookie, apple pie, breakfast pastries are BOGO after 5PM. Really anything - you can't go wrong!
We love our baked goods - can you tell?! We added Tiny's Milk and Cookies to our repertoire one day after a hike. We tried their chocolate chip cookie and have been sold ever since. What we get: Chocolate chip cookies, Brioche bun filled with pastry cream
Rockstar Bagels is hands down one of the best bagel spots in Austin. It's not quite a New York bagel, but it's still pretty damn good. This is typically Sunday morning activity for us, especially if we're fighting a hangover. We recommend ordering online and then picking it up. What we get: 12 pack of day old bagels, everything bagel, blueberry bagel
We would be crazy to not include a BBQ joint. The first time we went to Terry Black's was after a long day of moving in 100 degree weather. It was Abby's way of thanking Andrew for being such a good sport. Anyways, you'll find that most Austinites have opinions about the best Barbecue. We're here to tell you to skip the long line at Franklin's and go to Terry Blacks. They all do their meats well, but Terry Black's has hands down the best sides! What to get: burnt ends, corn bread, Mac and cheese.
This food truck has the BEST empanadas. They are literally made on the spot. They do, however, take about 30 minutes to make so use that time to grab a cocktail at Kitty Cohen's!
