Andy and I met at our church Bible study. I initially was not interested in him, but I had a couple of little birdies in my ear saying how, “Brooke and Andy” need to meet. After hearing the phrase “Brooke and Andy” over and over, I felt a nudge from God and decided I needed to talk to this guy. But how would I accomplish this? We’d been going to the same Bible study for months and I’d never said a word to him. I couldn’t just walk up to him after Bible study and awkwardly say hi. I had to get creative. Luckily, it was around Easter time, and I found my move. On Easter Sunday, I sent him a facebook message that simply said, “Happy Easter”. I had opened the door, and it was anything awkward. He could respond how he wanted to respond. Once he responded, a conversation started, and we have talked to each other every single day since then. A few weeks later, I was attending a bridal shower and was just messaging Andy about my day. He asked about whose wedding it was, and I told him. He responded that it was the start of wedding season. At this point, I decided to make a bold move. I responded saying, “I know. I need to find a date to the actual wedding 😂”. I was so nervous, I had laid my trap and I scared to see how he’d respond. McKenzie even freaked out and told me that Andy would probably never talk to me again. But she was wrong. Not only did he respond, he made a bolder move. I opened my messages and read, “I believe I could help with that”. I was shocked. I now had a date to the wedding, but him and I had actually never spent time together except for Bible study. So now, I had to figure out how to accomplish that. That night, as Andy and I were talking, I made another bold move and asked him to come over for dinner, and surprisingly, he said yes. That night was definitely awkward, but it was good. It opened the door to everything Andy and I have become today. I couldn’t be more thankful that I took some risks, because in the end, I found the man I get to marry.
As you read above we met at our church Bible Study and my initial thought as she walk in was "I'd like to get to know her." After her initial message of "Happy Easter" we exchanged more messages and texts. Our first "hangout" was a movie at her brother's house and our first date was dinner at Chedder's and a movie. We went to the Indianapolis Zoo on July 4th and on the way home we made it official. Life has for sure been an adventure but I wouldn't have it any other way. Can't wait to marry this woman.
It was a Sunday afternoon. I had already told her family and mine to block out their schedule for the evening. Brooke was at work. I had my parents take me over to her house where I would be waiting to ask the question. I had a ticket stub from our first date and a receipt from the trip to the Indianapolis zoo waiting out on the table. I also had a create your own coupon. For my birthday our first year together Brooke gave me a coupon book and in it were some that said create your own. On the coupon it said "request for last name change." Brooke came home, let the dogs out, put stuff away and then noticed what was on the table. As she was reading it I appeared and she asked "Where's your car?" I don't believe I immediately answered the question. I went down on one knee, asked the question and here we are. Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with this woman.
