In the summer of 2015, I ( Isabelle) was a Staff in Training at Camp Susque. It was the end of the last week of boys camp and Andrew had just finished a week of camp and was getting ready that Saturday to go on a wilderness trek to the Chesapeake. I was approached by two fellow employees (Aly Hamilton and CJ Whitmire) and asked if I wanted to help cut CJ and Andrews's hair. I had never cut hair before, and never meet the boy sitting in front of me, but something drew me to him, a week later after he got back from camp, I got up the courage to ask for his number, and the rest is history. A very long history, we would come to find out, as we discovered that our paths had been linked long before our meeting. Andrews's Grandparents used to live in Rochester, NY where I am from and were good friends with my grandparents for many years before they moved down south. One of my aunts even used to babysit Andrews's mother. This crazy realization came to a head when I once while cleaning out my grandmother's bookshelf, found an old Christmas card from Andrews's grandparents which included a picture of the then eleven-year-old boy, that I am now about to marry. Four years, seven pet goldfish, and many many houseplants later we are finally jumping into the deep end. I think many would agree, its been a long time coming
