They met on Jacey's parents' wedding anniversary. This was only one of countless "coincidences" that seemed too incredible to be true. God's perfect timing is written all over their story which continues to encourage and remind Andrew and Jacey of God's will for their lives. Only minutes before the deadline, Jacey made the last minute decision to apply to a small, specialized honors course discussing the biological nature and affects of cancer. Jacey was accepted ("...of course, she is incredible!" -Andrew). Andrew also applied and was accepted too, being one of the only sophomores in a class of mostly seniors. After spending a few classes sitting on opposite sides of the room from one another, Jacey decided she needed a new seat with a better view of the board. Seeing this incredible opportunity unfold in front of his eyes, Andrew acted fast. He slid a chair up beside him and offered it to her, which Jacey accepted of course ("...he had definitely already caught my eye, he was different and special, I wanted to sit beside him and get to know him more..." -Jacey). And the journey began! What followed was 2 years of laughter, prayers, and tears, all-nighters at the library, swing dancing under the moonlight, trips to see our families together, and many (many) IHOP visits.
Andrew knew he wanted the proposal to consist of two parts: a joy-filled trip through the highlights of their relationship, and a prayer-filled decision to move forward with the future God had planned for them. So on the night 2 years from the day they first met in class, Andrew walked Jacey onto campus. For the next few hours, hand in hand like always, they revisited and relived all of their favorite moments of falling in love: swing dancing at the Greek theatre, worshipping together in the music building, chalking the sidewalks, and much more. Early the next morning, Andrew picked Jacey up and drove her to the top of a mountain overlooking Fayetteville where a large cross stands, just in time to watch the sunrise. ("We cannot forget this very important detail: he brought me a pumpkin spice latte to drink on the drive to our bible study!" -Jacey) There they read scripture and prayed together. Here, before Jacey and the cross, Andrew got on one knee and asked her to be his wife. And with a tearful "yes" and a sweet kiss, here we are! Jacey had been praying for awhile about whether Andrew was the man she was supposed to marry. Once she had peace and knew he was, she made the decision that she wanted him to feel as chosen and special as she would the day he asked her to marry him. So she had found him an engagement ring and had it ready to give him after he asked. ("It's my favorite possession!" -Andrew)
Jacey has graduated with her biological sciences degree and is working as a medical scribe while waiting for Andrew to finish his biomedical engineering degree at the University of Arkansas. He will be graduating this May. They are both preparing to apply to medical school this summer with hopes and dreams of both becoming doctors. They truly believe they are soul mates. They are absolute best friends. They miss each other every moment they are apart and enjoy doing any and everything together! They pray for a future filled with adventure, growth, seeking God in everything, loving people deeply, and loving each other most.
