November 28, 2017: It was a dark and stormy night... Nah, just kidding. It was probably a night just like any other. Georgia had just moved home with her parents in San Jose, CA., and Ryan had recently graduated from San Francisco State while splitting time with his families. They both needed some excitement in their everyday lives and, let's face it, relief from recent cringe worthy dates. So, naturally, what do they do? Go on Bumble! Ding! It's a match. And, little did they know, it was with a pretty amazing person. Within a week of talking, a date was planned! December 5th 2017: Georgia and Ryan were supposed to meet in person for the first time at Coach's, a dive bar in Campbell. Thirty minutes before the date (just as Ryan was leaving from his office in Scotts Valley) Georgia called to cancel. Ryan had seen this move before and thought their relationship was over before it began. But, since she promised it was strictly an unfortunate circumstance, and really did want to reschedule, he made the best decision of his life by giving her the benefit of the doubt, agreeing to meet a couple of days later. New Date: Thursday, December 7th, 2017. New Time: 6pm. Same Place: Coach's bar in Campbell. Take Two: Georgia arrived first and nervously texted Ryan that she was in the parking lot. Just then, she noticed someone pull in just a few a spaces away. The driver had not yet emerged from their car. She franticly thought to herself, "Could this be Ryan?!" His Bumble profile pictures were promising and he was a gentleman over text, but how could Georgia know for sure if those photos were him? Even more importantly, how tall was he?! So many questions and so many anxious butterflies in her stomach! Ryan felt his pocket vibrate as he parked. Excited and nervous as well, he sent a quick response saying that he had just parked. They were about to walk in together. Georgia's first thoughts: "Wow, he is tall!" "Great hair!" "Good style!" Ryan's first thoughts: "Wow, she looks tall!" "Big car!" "Fun look!" Things were off to a great start. As they awkwardly approached front door of the hole-in-the-wall bar that is Coach's and found their way inside, all of the heads in the room immediately turn back to get a look at these gussied up kids. Ryan and Georgia instantly got the vibe that this was one of those "locals only" places. They found a table near the big screens and settled in. Ryan got them each a Vodka-Redbull and the conversations started flowing. Ryan was so easy to talk to and seemed genuinely interested in what Georgia had to say, a definite breath of fresh air from other guys she had met recently. Similarly, Ryan was incredibly relieved that Georgia was a talker and didn't need any help preventing awkward silence, something that was all too common on his first dates. An hour in, Georgia's mom texted to ask how it was going. But, because Georgia was having such a great time, she completely ignored the notification and continued on with this new guy. No one checked in on Ryan. They learned about each other's families, hobbies, and interests. Travel stories were exchanged and a common love for the San Jose Sharks was discovered. So much so, that they moved up to the bar when some seats were vacated to get a better view of the game playing on TV. Georgia even paused Ryan mid-thoguht so that she could watch a replay of the goal the Sharks had just scored. That was it, Ryan knew she was the one! After a couple (or 5) more Vodka-Redbulls, the bar tender rang a bell. Weird, right? WRONG! It was already last call! Ryan and Georgia had been talking. laughing and enjoying each other's company for 6 F****** HOURS! ON A THURSDAY NIGHT!! These two couldn't have planned a second hang faster as Georgia went home and instantly gushed to her mom about how amazing the date was. And, well, the rest is history...
