Let’s just start by saying, shout out to OK CUPID (online dating app) for allowing us to cross paths! Never in a million years would I think this online dating thing ACTUALLY works. It was a Monday evening when my sister Heather and I were sitting on the coach, drinking wine, watching the Bachelor when she had this crazy idea..”have you ever heard of OK Cupid?” I literally laughed in her face and said yes, and I know where this is going, the answer is “NO.” We continued watching the bachelor and after another glass of wine I said “okay fine.. but you are going to create my profile.” We had so much fun setting it up together and couldn’t wait to start finding some serious matches. That night I felt so overwhelmed by the app and completely closed out of it. The next day I decided I would open it back up to see what this thing was all about. BOOM, there he was… my 94% match, Andres Rodriguez. I clicked on his profile and thought, “Monrovia, where the hell is that? Wait..52 miles away? HA!! No thanks.. next.” Exited out his profile and continued looking at my other 20-50% matches with no interest whatsoever. It wasn’t long until Andres saw I visited his profile. Within seconds of viewing mine, I get a “New Message” notification from my 94% match. My heart dropped. “Damn, this guy is really cute. I guess 52 miles isn't that bad!” I quickly opened up my messages to see what this guy had to say.. “I don’t like scary movies either, they give me nightmares. How is your day going?"
It was our first night it Cabo, we were enjoying happy hour with some close friends of ours when Andres looked at me and said "we should go watch the sunset?" He knows how much I LOVE sunsets, being that its my favorite time of day, but since we were out with friends waiting for our dinner reservations I told him it was probably best to walk the beach tomorrow to watch the sunset. He was very adamant about watching this sunset. Andres continued to stress the idea of going to watch the sunset by saying "it's the first sunset of our trip, I think it would be really special if we got to enjoy it together." I was thinking how sweet he was to really care THAT much about the freakin sunset, but alright.. let's do it! Our friends reassured us by saying "this is your vacation too, go enjoy yourselves!" So we did just that. We went on a little walk down the beach. It was so romantic, I even said "this reminds me of our first date, after dinner you took me down to the beach and kissed me for the first time." His face was glowing, his cheeks grew larger and that smile was one I will never forget. He turned me around to take one more look at the sunset shining down at us and said, "It's moments like these I want to last forever. You make me the happiest man alive and I am so lucky I found you." I take a step back and think to myself, "wait..is this really happening?! I literally see his heart beating out of his chest!! "OMG, wait he is doing it.." He reaches into his pocket, I cover my eyes in disbelief and there it was, a diamond ring. Tears fell from my face, my hands to my knees, "Will you marry me?" he said. "NO! What are you doing??.. this isn't real?" His face seemed happily confused, mainly because I truly did not think this was happening right now, on this beach IN CABO, at sunset. Everything seemed way too perfect to be true. I soon realized, "NO!" was not the immediate answer he was hoping for. I screamed, jumped up and down and ran into his arms. "YES, YES, I will!"
