Golden Canyon Hike
This hike is a 10-minute drive from the main hotels and campgrounds within Furnace Creek. This otherworldly landscape might give you the feeling that you've stepped onto a Star Wars movie set. Well, in fact, you have. Death Valley is a famous filming location for several films.
Zabriskie Point
Catch the sunset at this spot. It's usually busy, and that's for good reason. It is beautiful! This location is an easy 10-15 minute drive from the main hotels and campgrounds in Furnace Creek.
Badwater Basin
Death Valley is a land of extremes, and you'll find yourself at the lowest point in North America if you take a trip to Badwater. It's a 30-minute scenic drive from the main hotels and campgrounds at Furnace Creek. There are lots of other scenic stops and hikes along the way.
Dantes View
Another good location for sunrise or sunset in the National Park. This one is a 45-minute drive from the main hotels in Furnace Creek, but it's worth the drive if you have the time.
Keane Wonder Mine
This is one of Deanna's favorite locations. It turns a history lesson into a badass hike. You can keep it simple and stay close to the structures at the base of the mountain, or you can hike up a couple thousand feet while oohing and aahing at the structures left behind. Imagine being one of the miners on the sides of these mountains. Not for the faint of heart!
China Ranch Date Farm & Bakery
Never had a date shake? Now is the time. This is a fun stop for those planning to explore the area further. The date farm offers tours and has hiking on the property. It is located outside the National Park, so plan accordingly.
Rhyolite Historic Area
What's a trip to the desert without visiting a ghost town? This historic site is an easy stop depending on which route you take to Death Valley.
