Justice and Andreen met at CBU when they both signed up for FYE leadership positions, which was a class aimed at helping freshmen get connected and support them as they started their college journey. They were assigned each other as partners for the semester. At first, neither were talkative (each will say the other was the reason), but as the semester continued, they hung out a little more each time…
As the semester progressed more, classes were going smoothly, and they even started hanging out after. As it turns out, their roommates were friends so there was plenty of opportunity to enjoy each other’s company. FYE had a no dating rule, so Justice waited about 4 hours after the closing banquet to ask her out under the pretext of watching chapel together. Fun fact: it took him just as long to fumble over his words and finally say he liked her.
Justice accompanied Andreen’s family on a Valentine’s weekend trip to Yosemite Valley, hoping to catch the iconic Firefall event, which takes place every mid-February. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans, with clouds obscuring their view. After a few changes to their itinerary, they made an impromptu stop at Cook’s Meadow. There, on a boardwalk in the meadow—seemingly offering the only clear view of Half Dome—Justice proposed to Andreen. She said yes (obviously, like who would refuse), and her siblings, parents, and grandma were the first to celebrate with her.
