There will be a Bus bringing guests from the Moxy Hotel in Sydhavn to Sankt Augustins Kirke, pickup time is 1pm. After the ceremony at Sankt Augustins Kirke, there will be a Bus waiting outside for you to bring you to Bernstorff Slot. There will also be a Shuttle Bus leaving Bernstorff at Midnight and 2AM to bring guests to Nørreport and then the Moxy Hotel in Sydhavn. There are no Uber or Lyft apps in Denmark but if you want a taxi it may cost around $50-60 USD depending on where your destination is. Ask the staff at Bernstorff to arrange your ride when you like.
Fly Norse (flynorse.com) is a great option for cheap tickets that fly direct from NYC to Oslo. You can then take a flight to Copenhagen using Norwegian Air... Be aware that SAS might have some difficulties with flight cancelations due to a current pilot strike that hopefully will end soon in July
It wouldn't be a Danish wedding without numerous speeches during the Reception Dinner. The speeches are prepared in advance and any guest who would like to make a speech is expected to let the Toastmaster know in advance! It is also common to request a song that all can sing from a prepared song book. After dinner, the first dance before midnight is usually a wedding waltz known as the Brudevalsen with the tradition of the guests circling the couple and gradually closing in while clapping. Here is a short video to demonstrate from Prince Frederik & Mary of Denmark's wedding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS5_84MAKlc&feature=emb_imp_woyt
Kids of all ages are welcome. Dogs are not allowed inside the Church or indoors in the Reception. However, Otto, the Golden Retriever, might make an appearance during your stay in Copenhagen. Surrounding Bernstorff Slot is also a beautiful large park open to the public which is a popular site to let dogs run around off-leash, so don't be surprised while walking the palace grounds!
Preferably by August 5th or 6th! We will have a welcome dinner on Saturday night (max. 50 guests, RSVP please!) in order to welcome out of town guests. On Friday night there will be a Rehearsal dinner for the members of the Wedding Party. Let us know when you will be arriving and we will do our best to organize something on the days you are in Copenhagen. If you looking for something to do on Friday, we recommend enjoying Tivoli amusement park which often hosts concerts in the Summer on Friday evenings. If the weather is nice, you can also take a tour of Copenhagen by boat or even go for a dip in the canals!
Anywhere in Copenhagen or in the surrounding suburbs! Check out Airbnb or hotels in the area near the reception (Gentofte) or church (Østerbro). But try to book as soon as possible as August is the best weather in Denmark and popular for tourists. Bernstorff Slot will have sufficient guest rooms to stay in after Sunday's night of festivities and offers a wonderful Brunch. If Bernstorff is fully booked and you would like to stay in a Danish castle, another option is Kokkedal Slot which is a castle about 20 mins drive from Bernstorff Slot. CPH Studio Hotel is also great if you want a holiday by the beach (Amager Strand) and it is close to the airport (as well as great place to stay if you are part of the wedding party and/or want to spend extra time us as our apartment is 1 minute away!)
Black-tie, but please wear what makes you feel and look your best! For example, in Filipino tradition, barongs are very common to wear. Also be prepared for Copenhagen weather in August which can vary from rain to sunshine!
As of 1st of February, the Danish government has removed all Covid restrictions aside from a negative test needed to enter the country from abroad if unvaccinated. Please keep updated on the situations as we get closer to August but typically Denmark has only reintroduced restrictions in the Fall or Winter.
