It was a chilly winter's evening in January 2017. Andrea and Wyatt met in a Barnes and Noble coffee shop to escape the cold. While this was the first time they would meet eyes, they knew it wouldn't be their last. They found each other like most modern couples do, online, but their relationship would unfold unlike any other. Their first date comprised a delightful evening of delicious burgers, drinks, and a range of conversation topics that meandered from the mystical to the hysterical. Two weeks later, Wyatt asked Andrea to be more than friends. Over the next few months, the couple grew in love by creating many wonderful and lasting memories.
I love mornings. I love waking up, reading, coffee time, breakfast, relaxing, etc. However, mornings can be daunting when they involve waking up early for work. So you can imagine my complete joy and emotional squeals when I opened my bedroom door one Monday morning to find balloons, flowers, candy, and a card from Wyatt, which stated that I did not have to go into work that day. Instead, I was to meet him to begin a date-day adventure. The latitude and longitude coordinates given to me (isn't he clever? and so sweet to assume I could figure that out) in the card led me to the parking lot of Bruegger's Bagels in Raleigh. From there, Wyatt and I drove to Fort Fisher, where he had planned a picnic on the beach, complete with a meal from Zin Burger (commemorating our first date). It was during that picnic that Wyatt asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Unwaveringly and joyfully, I responded, "a million times yes!" We then continued our day by going to the Fort Fisher Aquarium (only one of my favorite places ever-- hello touch-pool and seahorses!) My heart was full to the brim. We drove home and he surprised me with dinner at the Angus Barn (this man knows me). My parents met us for dessert and wine as we all talked excitedly about how perfect the day was. Needless to say, we are overjoyed to be getting married December 16, 2017!
Born and raised in Durham, NC, Andrea has never become a true Tar Heel or Duke fan. However, she will always and forever remain the biggest fan of Wyatt Shields. Currently, Andrea is working in a pediatric dental office because what better way to stay young that cleaning gold fish out of children's teeth! Andrea enjoys volunteering at church, running, dabbling in various craft-y projects, spending time with amazing friends and family, and cooking yummy treats. Upon meeting Wyatt, she has learned how to be more ruthless and less emotional when playing board games. Andrea is looking forward to starting a life together with Wyatt!
Born in Powhatan, VA, Wyatt was given a wonderful childhood. He attended college in Charlottesville, VA and then moved to Durham, NC to study biomedical engineering. Along the way, Wyatt gained many meaningful friendships through his school, church, and his favorite hobbies like hiking, running, traveling, music, and board games. Most importantly, this is where he would meet his beloved future wife. Looking forward, Wyatt is eager and excited to begin the next chapter of his life with his beautiful bride in Boston.
