It was sophomore year at Bentley University (2020), Andrea's friends Itala and Melania had just joined a co-ed business fraternity on campus and they told Andrea about this guy from Minnesota they met called Walter. In a fraternity event, Mel and Itala called Walter over to join the conversation, and he joined in with pretty broken Spanish, not realizing Andrea was from Honduras. Yet, Andrea was still charmed by Walter. So one day (many months later since they were separated due to covid), Andrea asked Walter to come over for dinner at her apartment. The rest was history.

Over 4th of July week in Minnesota, Walter’s family invited Andrea’s family to celebrate together. Walter had planned a full week of fun but left one "casual" day. That morning, he asked Andrea if she wanted to go to brunch just the two of them. On the drive, he casually mentioned the restaurant needed to push their reservation and suggested a walk through a nearby garden while they waited. As they strolled by the garden, Walter began sharing all the reasons he loved her. When they reached a gazebo overlooking the lake, he finished his speech with a proposal in Spanish that he had practiced with Andrea's sister Pili. Hidden nearby, his sister-in-law Lizzy captured the moment. They met the family back home where they had decorated for the ocassion! There was never a brunch reservation made.
