We met in the most conventional way. Work. Close friends from the first day, I helped teach Thomas all he knows when it comes to design, and that boy taught me patience from the get-go. We never meant to become anything other than friends, but when God works in your life for something you've been praying for for years, you let Him work. God placed Thomas in my life to not only become my best friend, but to teach me how to love, to be more kind, and to put others first. We've had our ups and downs, but we are thankful for God's provision that led us to love - carefully and faithfully guiding our steps down a winding road, showing us the true meaning of His saving grace and love. I'm so thankful that God allowed us to get to know one another first before opening the door to a relationship. Thomas makes me laugh hard, work hard, and love harder. He is my best friend, and I thank God for him.
There were always fireworks between us, but never in a million years did I think that I would land a hopeless romantic to spend the rest of my life with! It was the weekend after the Fourth of July, and Bakersville was having their annual fireworks show in town. Thomas said that some of our closest friends were going to meet us at the courthouse, that his mom had gotten permission for us to have the best seats in the whole town - on the balcony of the courthouse. It seemed too good to be true as nightfall came, and our friends gathered close. One of my best friends, an incredibly talented photographer, was there too to make sure to catch, what will now be known as "The Grandest Gesture". As the fireworks show hit the grand finale, our friends took a few steps back, and Thomas pulled me closer. I wish I could remember all the touching, sweet and loving things he said, but all memory was lost as he GOT DOWN ON ONE KNEE!! "Andrea Bridget McFee, will you marry me?" I was too excited and overwhelmed, don't even remember saying "YESSS" until we got in the car. I am so blessed to say I love this hopeless romantic with all of my heart.
We would like to invite our loved ones to commit to joining us in praying over our marriage now as we begin our lives together and to continue to pray over our marriage in the years to come.
