Things To Do

Welcome to Raleigh! We're excited for you to experience our town if you have time! Here are some of our favorite places (most are places to eat or drink).

The Player's Retreat (PR)

105 Oberlin Rd, Raleigh, NC 27605

This is our favorite place in Raleigh. Great dive bar with excellent food and beer selection. Great place to go if you want to watch a game. It's not too far from NC State, PJ's Alma mater!

Historic Oakwood/ Mordecai Neighborhood

802 N Person St, Raleigh, NC 27604

Cute historic neighborhood. Walk-able to everything in the below list. Address above takes you to parking. Morning/coffee: - Krispy Kreme - Featuring the iconic original Krispy Kreme sign. Stop in for hot glazed doughnuts and coffee! - Yellow Dog Bakery - Good Pastries & coffee! Daytime/lunch: - ish Delicatessen - Amazing corned beef & pastrami sandwiches. - Standard Beer & co - We love their smash burgers, but they have a good variety of food, beer, & cocktails. Note: They don't take reservations and it's first come first serve, but worth any potential wait! Nighttime/Dinner: - Crawford & Son - One of the best restaurants in Raleigh. Definitely get a reservation ahead of time! - William & Company - Great cocktails for before or after dinner. - Person St. Bar - Cool, casual spot for late-night/after dinner. Great back patio!

The Cardinal Bar

713 N West St, Raleigh, NC 27603

Another favorite place of ours! Small dive-y bar. Made-to-order hot dogs, and good beverages. This is a smaller bar, so might not be good for large parties.

Trophy Pizza & Brewing

Address: 827 W Morgan St, Raleigh, NC 27603

Trophy is another namesake in Raleigh. This is their Pizza & Brewing location, but they also have a taproom and distillery in town. Good for larger parties - just try to make a reservation ahead of time if you can!

Downtown Raleigh Area

Raleigh, NC 27601

Moore Square Area: - Watts & Ward - Cool bar with tons of space! Good spot for drinks if you go to Brewery Bhvana or Bida Manda for dinner. May have to pay a cover. - Brewery Bhavana - Very popular and trendy restaurant in Raleigh. Good for dinner, or just drinks & appetizers. - Bida Manda - Really good Laotian food. We LOVE the pork belly soup! - Landmark Tavern - Another favorite dive bar of ours. Doesn't serve food, but there are a few nearby places you can walk to dinner. Nash Square Area: - Whiskey Kitchen - Good southern-style food, and whiskey of course! Has outdoor and indoor seating. If larger party, try and get reservation. - Poole's - One of the most famous restaurants in Raleigh. If you don't order the Mac n' cheese, you WILL REGRET IT. Reservations are a must! We had Valentine's Day dinner at here this year. - Death & Taxes - Another great restaurant from the owner/chef of Poole's. We've had a few birthday dinners here. Great dirty martinis! Reservation recommended!

North Carolina Museum of Art

2110 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC 27607

There is a free section of the museum, and an expansive outdoor space with trails that is also free and open to the public. We like to take the dog for walks here.

Rose Garden

301 Pogue Street, Raleigh, NC 27607

Free and open to the public from dawn until dusk. Very pretty scenery for a walk.

For all the days along the way
