Pittock Mansion
Andrea’s favorite view of the city is from the grounds of Pittock Mansion! The grounds are free and lovely to walk no matter when in the year. The Mansion is a cool experience if looking for something inside to do!
Cathedral Park
Natasha’s favorite place in Portland- Cathedral Park! It’s a lovely park by the river and directly below our apartment.

Powell’s City of Books
Go enjoy an amazing Portland favorite! Powell’s is the largest privately owned bookstore in the WORLD! They have over 1 million books in store and are truly a gem of the city!
The Grotto
The Grotto, the National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, is Roman Catholic ministry of the Order of Friar Servants of Mary. The 62-acre shrine is located in the city of Portland, Oregon, USA. The Grotto offers a sanctuary of peace, prayer and natural beauty for all people.
Portland Streetcar
The Portland Streetcar is a great form of transportation with stops close to the Porter Hotel!
TriMet MAX
The MAX is our local rail line. It has several stops within a few blocks of the Porter Hotel! The MAX also services transportation to and from PDX(Portland International Airport).
Portland Japanese Garden
Though it might be raining, you will still have a lovely visit taking in the city views, private waterfalls and pagodas, bridges and fish.
Oregon Zoo
The Oregon Zoo is a fantastic showing of how ecology and rescue fit. On a small space they have made the most of it! They even have an Ohio resident, NORA, the polar bear! You can reach the zoo on the MAX!
Timberline Lodge
Hmmm… that looks familiar! The Timberline Lodge is actually the facade of the Shining’s Overlook Hotel. It’s not as scary as it sounds. :) it has a lovely backdrop of snow and a warm fireplace if you have time to trek up the mountain and see Mt. Hood!
Cannon Beach
Did you ever want to see where the Goonies was filmed? Haystack Rock is the backdrop of the final scenes of the movie. It’s a lovely town to walk through or just look at tide pools on the beach.
Flavel House Museum
The Flavel House is the setting for the Goonies! It’s the museum that Mikey’s dad worked at and is a gorgeous piece of Oregon history. Take some extra time to explore the coast and all it has to offer. PS! The Oregon Film Museum is right next to the Flavel House. You can see the getaway Jeep the jail and so much more from movies other than the Goonies! Remember Stand By Me? It was filmed here too!
