It was a Thursday night at Arjon's. Most of my friends had already left and I dug my keys out of my purse, ready to head out myself. I feel a tap on my shoulder, and look up to see a tall, handsome stranger smiling at me with a dimple on his cheek. A bachata song came on and he asked me to dance. It soon became obvious he had no idea what he was doing. We finished the song and danced another one anyway. He had asked me for my number and I ended up saving it in his cousin's phone because he had lost his in the bustle of things earlier that night. It took me a couple of weeks to respond to his texts but after the first date I knew he was very different from the men I had dated before.
One night my brother David and I had gone out for dinner. We were at a mexican resteraunt when my cousin Jose called me and asked us if we wanted to join him on a night out. And then we went to a place called Arjons. All night I had seen this girl in a white and black dress, dancing her "bottom" off. All I could see was how well she moved her hips. She seemed to float across the dance floor. She hypnotized me with her moves. It took me a few more drinks to find the courage to walk up to her and ask her to dance. When I finally did, I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. My first words were "Excuse me, I don't know how to dance, but I just have to dance with you." Surprisingly, she said yes. I started dancing cumbia, because I didn't even know what bachata was. When I looked at her she was laughing with a big beautiful smile on her face. And I asked her to dance a second song because I didn't want to let her go. After the second song was over, I asked her for her number. And then I realized that I didn't have my phone so I had to yell at my cousin so we could save her number in his phone. We had our first date a few weeks later.
