How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage

We met at a friends (shoutout to Erin) birthday party at a hockey game in Mississippi. I was told to ask Diego and his friend if I could ride with them. I asked and we got to meet each other for the first time! We had to find a place to go eat before the birthday party and Diego was asking everybody in the car what they wanted, so I responded Mexican, because I hadnt had any in a long time. I told Diego that I was really wanting some horchata! This dude really went through all the trouble to get me some horchata (we even got lost,) but that won my heart! We went ice skating after the hockey game and the rest is history! Well he tried to follow me around and I was a pro skater (not really, but I was better than him) so he fell and he sucked, but then the rest was history, because a week later I was running and we happened to bump into each other. I told him that we needed to talk and he sent me a DM saying, “Hey it’s that cool awesome guy named Diego. What did you want to talk to me about?” We set up a time to talk the next day and we hit it off pretty well! We went to Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Ar. Diego was two years ahead of me. We would always spend our time watching anime and running. We were friends for about a year, until he asked me to be his girlfriend on 02-11-17 at an ice skating rink in Springdale, Ar💕

Proposal story!

I said yes! 💍

On December 15, 2018 I said yes to the most amazing person in the whole world. If I am completely honest I was hoping he would pop the question, but when he finally decided to do it, I didn't expect anything.. We went to see the lights at Fayetville called Lights of the Ozarks. We walked around and even got to see a reindeer. I happened to see a horse carriage and mentioned to Diego that I never got to ride one of those when I was little, but that I always wanted too.
I didn't know that Diego had planned to ask me that day to marry him. He just didn't have a specific way to do it yet. When I mentioned the idea about the carriage, he thought that was the perfect way to ask.
We walked around some more and Diego asked us if we wanted to ride on the carriage. Everyone else said no, but I said yes. Diego said he had to go get something out of his car and so I waited for him.
He came back with a red gift bag, but I still had no idea. I just thought he was being extra and getting me another Christmas present.
We got on the carriage and went around the block twice. It was cold, but luckily for us they had some blankets in the carriage. He asked me if I was going to video (I'm always taking pictures and videos) I was like, "oh yeah I do that." I started videoing and just enjoying the awesomeness of the moment.
When we got to the second turn, he asked me if I would like to open my last gift and I said yes. He opened it for me and to my surprise I saw an everlasting rose with a diamond ring on it. I was stunned! I kept asking Diego, "What are you doing?"
Diego said, "Andrea Sinai Gaytan, will you marry me?" and I responded with a, "I'll think about it... Yeah!" (when Diego asked me to be his girlfriend I said I'll think about it, so it was a thing).
I may not have technically said yes, but either way I sad "yeah" and I get to marry the man of my dreams. I know I say this a lot, but I am super blessed that God gave me you! ❤️
