It all started with an old fashioned meet cute in the summer of 2015. Nick was living and working as a travel nurse in Denver while Andrea was visiting for a job interview in Colorado Springs. She turned it into a summer vacation with her girlfriends, and on the night of August 1, she met Nick at the ViewHouse bar in downtown Denver. Her friends asked Nick’s group to take their photo, and one conversation later, Andrea was hooked – especially when Nick knew random facts about figure skating (turns out, he’s basically a human Google). After exchanging numbers, they texted that whole week and even met up again on Andrea’s last night in Denver. Nick joined them for ladies’ night at a country bar – a very important detail. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever see him again, but she told her friends, “I'm totally going to date Nick the Nurse someday.” Andrea didn’t end up moving to Colorado, but she and Nick stayed in touch. For about a year and a half, they sent each other memes and kept chatting. Then came one wedding date in Rochester, Minnesota (their first photo together!) and one turned-down Vegas trip where Andrea thought she’d been friend-zoned. Turns out, Nick had actually invited Andrea on a trip with a couple of his best friends and their girlfriends, not "the guys and the girls." In February 2017, Andrea visited Nick in Scottsdale to see if this could really be something. She met said best friends and their girlfriends at a Spring Training game, and a few weeks later, she joined that infamous Vegas trip. It's fitting that they're getting married at Caesars Republic, right? The rest, as they say, is history. After a year and a half of long-distance dating – with Nick working in Scottsdale, Los Angeles, and Santa Rosa – they finally got to live in the same city when Nick took a contract in Minnesota in September 2018. After his first real Minnesota winter, when Nick was shocked that he actually needed the "barbaric" ice scraper that Andrea's dad gave him, they made plans to move to the desert. And now, here they are, ready to start rest of their forever together – ten years and three months to the day that they met.
