We met on June 8, 2019. My friend Whitney had called me to meet her for drinks and to chat about her recent engagement. I said sure! I jumped in the car with wet hair and dog in tow and drove the hour to Fort Worth to meet her. She was a few minutes late so I sat outside at the first empty table in the shade waiting for the food trucks and Whitney to arrive. Jason was sitting at the next table over with a group of friends and a couple of cute pups so of course, Lucy had to say hi! We chatted for a little bit, Jason was determined to keep the conversation going. :) When Whitney arrived, we got lost in conversation catching up and chatting about her engagement. I got so caught up in my conversation with Whitney I lost track of Jason. As he and his friends were leaving he asked me for my number. The next morning he texted me, a few days later we went on our first date, and the rest is history! It's been quite the year and a half of travel, buying a house, a pandemic, and now planning a wedding! Sometimes it's hard to believe we haven't been together forever and sometimes I feel like forever wouldn't be long enough. :)
I had been carrying around the ring for a few months trying to find the perfect time to propose without giving it away. The pandemic had nixed a few of my ideas but I knew that Andi wanted to be surprised and for there to be a photographer there. One evening Andi had an idea of going out in our backyard and practice some photos during golden hour. We set up a camera on a tripod and used an app to snap some cute pictures. Then when everything was setup nicely and we started to lose light I secretly switched the camera from photo to video, hit record, and got down on one knee. The nerves got to me and all I could say was will you marry me? It took a minute for Andi to realize what was going on then she said yes! It was a complete surprise and Andi got to be her own photographer for her engagement.
We decided to have a small intimate ceremony on the Oregon coast at the end of August. There will be a wedding reception to celebrate in the spring of 2022 so we can celebrate with more of our loved ones and those that mean a lot to us! Please stay tuned as we update details on this website for the larger celebration.
