Andie and I met on a late summer day, I was in Kentucky while Andie was at her place in Illinois, when a fun afternoon trip I had planned for us was pushed back due to mechanical problems on my jeep. I spent all day trying to get it running so I could be on time. Once I realized that the “DIY 15 minute fix on YouTube” required a physics degree, 3-5 people, and 4 days, it was too late for me to be on time. So, I borrowed my uncle’s car and made the hour and fifteen minute drive to pick up Andie. Once I arrived and explained why I was late, we talked, and talked, and talked, we talked so much I actually drove us an hour and half the wrong direction before I realized it, and I’m not joking. I took Andie to “The fire tower” and “the Catwalk” in LBL at sunset. We went to Craig’s Dairy Dream for lunch / ice cream that we took to the pier to eat with a beautiful view of the lake. This is actually where I ended up proposing to her months later. There was an immediate connection between us, within minutes. There was never a moment of awkward silence. We were laughing with each other in no time, which was good considering I drove an hour and half in the wrong direction lol. I fell in love with Andie at the fire tower that first date. I knew I had just found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I actually called my two best friends after I dropped Andie off and told them I just found the Women I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. From the moment I picked her up for that first date, we have fallen more and more in love with each other.
The Proposal The best day of my life so far, Wow, where do I even start… It would have to be the day Dusty proposed to me. He convinced me to get dressed up for an evening out. He told me we had dinner reservations at Patties 1800 Settlement in Grand Rivers, KY on the lake. Now, when it comes to how we were to dress for the occasion, there was evidently some miscommunication. But we were able to laugh our way through it as it wasn’t a big deal. I had no clue he was planning to propose, but I still wanted us to match for dinner. Dusty brought one option with him from Tennessee for the weekend, one. But that outfit wasn’t going to cut it, as it didn’t match what I was told to wear at all. But we adapted and overcame. We supposedly had reservations but arrived in Grand Rivers a bit early. We decided to take a walk around the pier where we visited on our first date. Dusty had been trying to convince me for several days that I would be getting a surprise that day. He even went so far as to “accidentally” leave an ad in my car for a puppy for sale with a phone number where I would easily find it to throw me off. We were walking down the pier and I just knew there was a puppy waiting for me out there. Lol. Little did I know he was about to ask me to marry him. He had a “tourist” out there who turned out to be a professional photographer. The time came and Dusty pulled out the most beautiful ring and asked me to be Mrs Bass. The whole experience was better than I could have ever dreamt of. Afterward we went to a local pizza place where our friends and family joined us to celebrate. Dusty pulled off the most beautiful moment all while I was convinced I was receiving a puppy.
