FAQs

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

The greatest gift we could receive from you is traveling with us as we get married abroad. Skip the gifts and book your flight!

Question

What about a honeymoon fund?

Answer

We try to treat every trip we take like a honeymoon. We hope your experience with us in Kauai makes you want to save your dolla bills and join us for another one of them!

Question

Why a Wednesday?

Answer

Everyone & their cousin is re-planning their wedding for 2022. We did not want to have to compromise (again) or compete for our preferred vendors, so here you have it. A wedding on a Wednesday. Plus, we're giving you a reason to travel longer & make a trip out of it. You have 9 months to save your PTO. Travel responsibly ;)

Question

When is everyone arriving and leaving?

Answer

Because the wedding is on a Wednesday, most folks are making a week trip out of the ordeal. Your travel dates are completely up to you!

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Kapa'a or Wailua. There are many options available through Airbnb, VRBO or Vacasa. We will provide shuttles to/from this area for the wedding day.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

No. There is no parking at the venue. We are getting married & having the reception at a private residence. Parking is limited and being reserved for the vendors.

Question

How will we get to the venue?

Answer

We are providing a shuttle service to/from the Kapa'a & Wailua resort area. The shuttles picking guests up will be from 1:45pm-3:00pm (with the last shuttle departing Kapa'a/Wailua at 2:30pm). The shuttles taking guests home will be from 8:00pm-11:00pm (with the last shuttle departing the venue at 10:30pm). *This service will ONLY apply for guests staying in the Kapa'a/Wailua area. The shuttles will not go further south to Poipu or north to Princeville*

Question

What if I don't want to stay in Kapa'a/Wailua?

Answer

Your best bet in that case would be to explore public parking options in Kapa'a/Wailua, so that you can still catch our shuttle. Alternatively, you could phone a friend staying in Kapa'a/Wailua area and finagle yourself an extra parking pass, then be picked up/dropped off by our shuttles from their condo location. I'm not sure how prominent Uber/Lyft are on the island as we have never used it, but I'm sure you could get creative if you would like to stay elsewhere!

Question

What's for dinner, exactly?

Answer

Kickshaws808 is a food truck out of Koloa. They have a HUGE menu & these choices we hard to make! Bitchin’ Burger - house ground, 30 hour cured burger made up of ground chuck steak topped with our house-made gouda and manchego cheese sauce, red wine sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and shallots with arugula, and a house-made thyme aioli served on a deli & bread connection bun Bodacious Black Hog Tacos (2) - kurobata black hog cheek topped with fresh, local radish, pickled red onion and a jalapeño citrus sauce served on corn tortillas. Tremendous Tuna Melt - freshly caught, local ahi topped with havarti cheese, pickled red onion with a caper aioli on deli & bread connection’s sourdough bread. Mouthwatering Melty Mushroom Sandwich - portobello mushrooms cooked in red wine topped with farm fresh fennel, poblano peppers, red onions, and our house made pepper jack cheese sauce on a deli & bread connection bun. *vegetarian *all items can be made dairy &/or gluten free upon request

Question

What should we wear on the wedding day?

Answer

Beachy semi-formal attire, shoes optional. Meaning, be comfortable and don't overthink it! We would also like you to know that we don't have a wedding party to coordinate photos with, so it would be awesome for anyone who wants to jump into our photo sesh after the ceremony to match up with the wedding color theme if possible. We completely understand if you want to do your own thing, though! If interested, Andie would love for guests to wear something along with the wedding colors - light/dusty orange, light/dark sage green, tan/taupe, cream/sand, and similar shades. Question

Do I need a rental car?

Answer

Possibly, if you plan to have an extended stay & want to explore the island or stay in a different town for part of your time on Kauai - definitely! If you are staying in Kapa'a the whole time & want a more resort/low-key experience - probably not. Most things are within walking distance in Kapa'a & some condos have shuttles for things like trips to the store. However, if you decide you want a rental car, we recommend booking ASAP. With car availability being scarce, prices jump fast & they sell out quickly.

Question

How much should I pack?

Answer

The best thing we ever did to make traveling easy and smooth was learn to pack light. This is your best bet! If your can avoid checking bags, you decrease your risk of items getting lost in layovers. Carry-on sized bags takes the worry out of travel for us.

Question

Any specific items I should bring for travel?

Answer

Color copy of ID/passport, RFID wallet, sunscreen (this is the only thing I intentionally over-pack), basic meds and first aid, travel size toiletries and a pocket-sized version of anything I can find that I know I will use more than once! If you have to stock up on things like sunscreen or shampoo while traveling, it can be expensive! If you travel with any prescription medications, make sure they are prescribed to you and there is a label on the bottle showing that. It's always best to keep things in their original packaging as much as possible to avoid any confusion if your bags are randomly inspected at the airports.

Question

Do I need travel insurance?

Answer

If this is your first time traveling during COVID restrictions, and it makes you more comfortable to get travel insurance, then by all means! It is not expensive. It protects your belongings (lost, damaged, stolen), trip cancellations due to medical emergencies, and can be super useful in getting you home if you happen to experience a medical emergency while away from home. We typically will only use travel insurance if we are going to remote locations with poor emergency resources (like remote islands in Indonesia or if local hospitals are small/overrun) or are traveling for an extended period of time (3 weeks or more).

Question

Any money saving tips?

Answer

Sure! There are a few ways to make the most of your money on this type of travel. One - choose flights wisely! If flights are expensive on Sunday but cheaper on Monday, fly out monday! Don't just shop on Google Flights, check out multiple airlines' websites directly & clear your cache before going back to those sites. Shop for flights on weekdays. Two - pack smart! Bring enough of the simple necessities so that you're only making trips to the store for water and other refreshments! Tourist items like aloe and sunscreen get expensive fast. Three - travel with friends. This can save you hundreds on condo costs & rental cars. Bonus Tip! - Take advantage as much as possible on all the things we are trying to include like shuttles (instead of uber) and room block codes!
