FAQs (worth checking out)

Feel free to contact the bride or groom with and additional questions.
Question

Will I be invited to the ceremony?

Answer

Due to current restrictions at our church, we have decided to keep the ceremony intimate with only those a part of the wedding party and immediate family in attendance. We can't wait to see you all after we say "I Do" at our home!

Question

What kind of weather should I expect?

Answer

Oh the good old Michigan weather can be very unpredictable. On average the lows have been around 50º and highs of 70º in May. Being we are on the lake you can expect a bit of wind, and a slightly chillier evening once the sun goes down. But remember, sunset isn't until 9pm.

Question

Dress Code

Answer

Keep in mind it is an outdoor reception. Wear comfy shoes! Bring a jacket or sweater as a precaution if it get's chilly at night!

Question

What can I get the Bride and Groom?

Answer

We will have been in our beautiful lake house for over a year so we have really set it up with all the essentials. Between the home coming fully furnished, Sara's California apartment stuff and Robs Ferndale home, not to mention the fact that Tom is retiring and trying to give Sara and Bobby everything he doesn't want to move to MN. We have very little things on the registry. To us the most important thing is for all of us to be together to finally celebrate the happy occasion. Traveling and preparing for a wedding, even as a guest is a lot of work and we appreciate each and every one of you! If you feel you must bring a gift feel free to help us with our honeymoon, future home projects, or go in on partial gifts. But again, we are just so happy you have chosen to celebrate with us and your love and support is truly all we wish for.

Question

What should I really call the groom?

Answer

Many family and close friends know him as Bobby. Work and more "adult" friends call him Rob. When he's in trouble his bride will call him by his full name: Robert James Voakes IV, so feel free to take your pick.

Question

Will there be parking for the reception?

Answer

Being the recaption is taking place at our home, and we are filling the driveway with yummy food options, seating and a restroom we suggest carpooling if you can. There is VIP / handicap parking available at our neighbors so please contact the bride or groom if you would need a space directly across the street. There is street parking available on all the side streets (Cottrell Rd. and Manilla St. are the closest) along with a large parking lot at the L'Anse Creuse Middle School which is a .4 mile walk to our north. There is NO parking on Jefferson.

Question

Why wasn't I asked if I want Chicken or Fish?

Answer

We will be celebrating with the bride and grooms favorite type of food... Food Truck and Street Style. It will all be made to order for you. There will be no traditional sit down dinner.

Question

What can I expect for the reception?

Answer

We are having a big Lake House Party to celebrate our love, marriage, family and friends so come expecting just that. No assigned seating, no DJ begging you to get on the dance floor (although there will be plenty of room for dancing.) Lots of good food, drinks and company along with a beautiful view of Lake St. Clair from our very own back yard. We look forward to sharing our special day with everyone!

Question

Invitations / RSVP

Answer

Formal invitations will be mailed out in April with an RSVP card inside.

Question

Answer

To see the most up to date info check online... As of today (Monday 5/24) -Masks are not required in most places if you are full vaccinated and have NO symptoms - Anyone who is fully vaccinated and not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms can attend residential gatherings -- both indoor and outdoor -- without a mask. - Up to 300 guests are allowed to gather outdoors (we are expecting between 120 and 150) - Michigan has officially reached the first of the four thresholds, with 55% of residents age 16 and older having received a dose of the vaccine. Feel free to reach out to Bride, Groom or any immediate family members with concerns. https://www.clickondetroit.com/health/good-health/2021/05/12/everything-to-know-about-covid-in-michigan-before-whitmers-update-restrictions-metrics-vaccinations/
