Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Shanna Anderson and Nick Jansen
Some fun places to explore around the Cities during your stay!

Minneapolis Institute of Art

2400 3rd Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55404

General admission to the MIA is always free! Advanced tickets needed for special exhibits. It's a huge gallery with many exhibits to explore - one of the icons of the city!

Science Museum of Minnesota

120 West Kellogg Boulevard, Saint Paul, MN 55102

The Science Museum has many fascinating exhibits to explore and interact with. My personal favorites are the quack medical devices and indoor tornado! Adult admission is $35 dollars. Temporary exhibits happen year round, so there's always something new to check out!

Como Park Zoo & Conservatory

1225 Estabrook Drive, Saint Paul, MN 55103

Thought our wedding venue was neat, and want to check out the whole thing? Come on back and explore all the gardens and the zoo! Admission is free and it's open every single day. Aside from the Sunken Garden, I love the Fern Room and Bonsai display. And they have Emperor Tamarins! Who can resist those cute little mustaches?!

Mall of America®

60 East Broadway, Bloomington, MN 55425

It wouldn't be a trip to Minnesota without mentioning the MOA! It's huge, it's got tons of stores to check out, many restaurants, an indoor amusement park, and several arcades. The new Fair on Four attraction has axe throwing, go karts, and fair foods galore! What *doesn't* this place have?! Also, IKEA is right across the road!

Bumbling Fools Mead

2010 East Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55413

Heading out a little later? Why not try some mead!? Bumbling Fools is co-owned and operated by my friend Skot. It's in a quirky industrial space in the 2010 Art Block building (follow the bees). There are a few constant staples, and frequent new flavors to try! If you chat up Skot he'll likely let you sample an experimental flavor they're working on. ;) Friday hours are 4:00pm-10:00pm, Saturday 2:00pm-10:00pm.

American Swedish Institute

2600 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55407

The American Swedish Institute is a beautiful historic mansion, cultural center and cafe! The mansion was completed in 1908 for the Turnblad family (Swedish immigrants to Minnesota), featuring 33 rooms, 11 tile stoves and hand carved woodwork. Swan Turnblad became the owner of Svenska Amerikanska Posten (the largest Swedish language newspaper in the US) and that is how the mansion was funded. The cafe features Swedish dishes and desserts - with a variety of drinks, coffee, tea and sodas. Saturday hours are 10:00am-4:00pm. Adult admission is $15 dollars ($13 for those 62 and up).
