After working together for a few years at the golf club, Dan and I finally noticed each other at a happy hour with coworkers in late 2012. After several dates, (and several meals I snuck down to him from the kitchen into the pro shop) later, Dan and I officially became a couple in December of 2012. About two weeks later, I moved 700 miles away from him to finish my degree, a decision that had been made many months prior. Our relationship developed through all night FaceTime calls and infrequent visits to Charleston, New Jersey, and back. We probably saw each other in person every few months. And while most people we knew warned that long distance would never work, somehow we felt inseparable, despite the distance. I moved back a year and half later, excited to continue our relationship in the same zip code. Eight years, one home, and two pets later, we are inseparable as ever. We like to think we are living proof that distance truly makes the heart grow fonder.
