A few months after John completed a residency rotation on Emily’s unit, the two crossed paths in the cafeteria. John asked if he could join her, and the two chatted about running and soccer. John acted like he knew how to play, and the next day at work, Emily asked for his number and if he would want to be on her soccer team that fall. The two played well, with Emily making John look way better than he was, and setting him up with a few goals over the course of a season. John returned the favor when Emily eventually joined his volleyball team. The two continued to find other shared interests and the rest is history...

John and Emily had plans for a St. Patrick’s day hike, a favorite shared activity, out at Ely’s Peak. Once John found a special spot, he got down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him. John must have not been to worried about the answer because after she said yes, in true John fashion, gave her a congratulations on your engagement card! Celebrations started with a green beer at Curly’s bar!
