From Slangin’ Cream To Star-Crossed Lovers…

In the beginning, there was cream. Mariah and Anders met at Baskin Robbins in 2016. They bumped into each other while trying to scoop from the same tub, and it was love at first sight. According to Mariah, the most memorable thing about Anders was his unusual name. “Is it An-ders… Or On-ders?” But that’s okay, because Anders didn’t give up hope. He kept trying to win her over… Stupid joke by stupid joke… And then, it happened. Word got out that Anders had a “crush” on Mariah, and the rest is history. It got to the point where Mariah would secretly switch shifts with whoever was working with Anders, so that she could work with him. (Talk about obsessed...) But when I say “work”... What I really mean is… The best damn time anybody has ever had with anyone. And I don’t mean kissing in the back room… (Although maybe that did happen, I wasn’t there.) I mean that Mariah made Anders feel like a kid again. She gave him butterflies that he didn’t even know existed. And every shift felt like a new opportunity to win her heart. Did he win her heart? You tell me… After Baskin, they moved into a lovely apartment in Thousand Oaks. Bottom corner apartment, right next to the dumpsters, underneath CLU “frat bros” who had bricks for feet, zero natural light, kitchen sink that clogged every week, maintenance that always blamed Anders for the clogging, and one bathroom (sorry Mariah). It was heaven. They’d get home from work… Doordash wingstop (or some other fine American cuisine)… Bake store-bought cookie dough for a criminally short period of time… And play minecraft or Clash of Clans until 2AM. They were living the American Dream. But all good things must come to an end… When their lease was up, they moved to a nicer spot nestled in the hills between Newbury Park and Camarillo. And that’s where they live today with Cricket, White Cat, and Maple. Cricket is a black cat. White Cat is a white cat. And Maple is a golden retriever. It’s kinda like a zoo. But that’s the beauty of Anders and Mariah’s relationship. They don’t care where they are… As long as they’re with each other… They know it’s going to be a good time. In fact, one of their best memories was a 20-hour long impromptu road trip from Seattle to LA, after missing their flight back home. And before you ask, yes. They did get to the airport 2 hours ahead of time. So no, it wasn’t their fault (I’m looking at you, SEATAC.) But once reality set in that they were out thousands of dollars, and were about to drive 20+ hours straight, it turned into the best day ever. But that’s how I know they’re meant to be together. Because it doesn’t matter what obstacles get thrown their way… Anders and Mariah will always… always… make the best of what’s around. Thank you for taking the time to read this love story, and we look forward to seeing you at their wedding. Love, Maple (How’s that for a plot twist?!)
